Listed below is my proven HAYDEN descent:
Sarah [Sally?] HAYDEN, b c 1775 in Gray ME m David DAVIS [vr married
24 Sep 1795 in Gray]
David DAVIS b 1800 in Gray m Mary JORDAN
Mary Susan DAVIS b 1827 in ME m Amos Claremont KIMBALL
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mary and Amos are my second ggparents, settled in MN, where they both
died and are buried.
I believe that the above listed Sarah HAYDEN was related to the family
of Richard HAYDEN and his wife, Mary JORDAN, who settled in Gray, ME for
a time, before moving on to Madison Center, ME. The difficulty arises
from the _Hayden Genealogy_ by Mina E. Pomeroy (1915), who lists
Richard's daughter, Sally, as married to William DAVIS, and having 7
children. New civil extractions lists a William DAVIS married [6 Sep
1797 in Cumberland, ME] Meriam DRINKWATER and the above listed marriage
for David DAVIS.
An interesting note: Mina POMEROY was the granddaughter of Rev.
Wentworth HAYDEN, who was the son of Clement HAYDEN and Mary HUMPHREY.
This Clement was a son of, the above mentioned, Richard HAYDEN and Mary
JORDAN, and brother to the Sally/Sarah in question. Rev. Wentworth
HAYDEN and his family settled in Champlin, MN where the family of Amos
C. KIMBALL also lived, at the same time.
