Dear Ms. Bennett,

I wanted to reply to the above messasge concering Hulda Smith HEARN
Carroll. I just replyed today to a message from Valerie A. Austin. I
am a descendant of Oliver R. Hearne, Hulda's brother. I have quite alot
of information on Oliver's father, Stepehen. In fact, I have his
Obituary written in 1852 by his brother, Thomas Hearne. Also I have
Stephen Hearne's, Oliver's father, Family Bible. It lists the marriages,
birhts and deaths of Stephen's family from Stephen's marriage to Jane
Ballard up to Oliver R. Hearne's death in 1900. Also I have a typed
written copy of the log kept by the Hearne's and Carroll's who came to
Jackson Parish, LA in 1857. I am more than willing to share this
information if it is needed by someone. I also have a tin type of Oliver
and all his male children made in the 1890's.

2. My records show Olver R. Hearne first marrying Nancy R. CARROL (I
did not know her middle name was Redwine) on 10 Nov 1843 at Coeta Co.
GA. She was apprently a cousin since his grandmother,Cathrine (Kate)
b.1781 was a Redwine. I have good deal of Olvier's decendants on my
computer.

4. Elbert Crayton Hearne b. 1 Jun 1827 in Coweta County GA. The Family
log says Crayton's wife was Harriet Parker.

5. Harwell M. Hearne. The Family Bible says he was born 14 Mar 1830.
The death is recorded as reported. The Bible clearly writes his birth
name as Harwell and his death entry as Harwell and not Howell but the
Family log shows a type written "Howell". I would like to know more
about the source of the Howell spelling.

6. Elizabeth Frances Hearne. The Bible shows the b. as 1 Nov. 1837 om
Coweta Co. GA

6a. The Family Bible shows Siloma C. Hearne born on 26 Apr 1840 and an
entry that she married a Robert Bullard and died in the Fall of 1860 in
LA.

7. Nancy C. Hearn - The Bible shows Nancy being born 9 Feb. 1840. The
Bible does not say the County.

About Thomas Hearne. The Bible shows Thomas J. Hearne being born in
Coweta Co. GA on 21 May 1833. There is a death entry that he died in
Coweta Co. GA on 23 Dec 1851 and was buried at Pleasent Grove Church. I
note that Stephen Hearne b. 1800 and Oliver's father also died on Nov.
8, 1851. He died of typhoid fever. Due to the similarities of death
dates, Thomas could also have died of typhoid fever.

Siloma C. Hearn is clearly not Soloma in the Bible but her death record
shows Soloma. Her name does not appear on the Family Log.

It is my belief that the Family Bibles entrys are fairly accurate. I
think they were written by Steven until his death in 1851. The writing
changes with Thomas's death in 1851.

The Family Log is type written and wonder if anyone knows were the
original is?

As to one of the great Hearne mysteries - to use an "e" or not. Stephen
uses it sometimes in the Bible and sometimes he does not. What can I say
but some do and some don't!

I hope this will add something. If any of you have more detail on the
NC, GA, and LA Hearne's please let me know.

Sincerely, H. Martin Hearne
