Somewhere I have a copy I made about 10 years ago of the will of Benjamin
HEATH. I don't remember Kesiah being mentioned, but he mentions his sons,
daughter, wife and his daughter's children. I think Jackson is the grandson
of Benjamin through one of his sons, but as I said, I have no evidence. He
was in the right place at the right time. A cousin works at the Telatha
Baptist Church and all the old records have been destroyed - therefore there
are no death certificates or other Church records for Jackson, Joseph or
others buried there.

Jackson was born, by tradition, in the Barnwell/Aiken area, SC. His
headstone says he was born in 1813 and died 18 June 1898 in Aiken, SC. I
have copies of his CSA papers. He was wounded and spent 3 days in the
hospital in VA. He was a planter. By tradition, he walked barefoot to
Columbia SC to sign up for the War, carrying his shoes. He married
Elizabeth REDD (I do not have a record of the marriage license) and they had
the following children:
Emma Rhea HEATH m. William Henry RAMSEY - my great grandparents
Manford HEATH
Norrell HEATH
Philistia (pronounced Felicity) HEATH
Elizabeth HEATH
Vesti HEATH
John Quince HEATH

I have a tremendous amount of information on these lines, newspaper
articles, etc., but I can't find Jackson's father. It is most frustrating.
A cousin has tried to check land records and another cousin hired a
genealogist who could not find Jackson's father either and also assumed he
was the grandson of Benjamin and his father was probably "John" mentioned in
Benjamin HEATH's will. (This genealogist's report was recently received by
me from a cousin who just found out I was working on this line). I even
know he was called "Daddy Jack by his children, grandchildren and later by
others.

There is family tradition that says Benjamin, John (Orangeburg SC) and
Jordan (who settled in GA) HEATH were brothers who came from VA after the
Revolution. Again, no evidence.

Any information is most appreciated.

Thanks again.
Gwen
