My gr-gr-grandfather, Rufus M. Hedges, was a farmer who was born in New
York, according to the 1850 Census of Adams County, IL. The 1860 Census
also lists him: Gilmer Township P.O. Columbus, page 653, family #916.
I'm related through his son Henry Hedges who was born in 1840 in Adams
County. According to the 1860 Census Rufus was 51 years old, so may not
be the same Rufus M. Hedges. Please let me know. Liz Boehne, St. Louis
