Guy Hendershott

Adrian - Word has been received of the death of Guy Hendershott of Onsted Saturday in Bixby
Hospital, Adrian. He had been a patient there for two weeks following a stroke. Mr. Hendershott
had been in failing health for two years.
Mr. Hendershott, who spent most of his life in Lenawee County and the North Adams area, is
survived by his wife, Ada, and sisters Sylvia Parkhurst of Manitou Beach and Myrtle Tompkins
of Hillsdale.

Note: Myrtle (Hendershott) Tompkins was the mother of Alberta (Tompkins) Whitford, a friend
of my family.

Sylvia Parkhurst

Onsted - Mrs. Sylvia Parkhurst, 73, of Stephenson Road, Route 1, Onsted, died at 9 a.m.
Tuesday in Bixby Hospital , Adrian, where she had been a patient since Thursday. Mrs.
Parkhurst has been in failing health for several years.
She was born Jan. 11, 1902, in Cambridge Township, daughter of the late Albert and Phoebe
(Schrock) Hendershott. On Jan. 11, 1922, she married Lynn Parkhurst, who preceded her in
death. Mrs. Parkhurst lived her entire life in the Onsted area and the last two years with her
daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Donna) Walker of Manitou Beach. She was a member of St. Michael's
Episcopal Church of Cambridge Junction. Surviving are four sons, Lawrence of Onsted, Lilburn
of Brooklyn, Willis of Manitou Beach, and Clifford Addison; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Tompkins of
Hillsdale; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be at 11 p.m. Friday at the Dunn Chapel of Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home,
Onsted, with the Rev. Jack Warner officiating. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery. Visitation
is from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. tomorrow.

John Hendershott

John L. Hendershott, 88, of 3250 Parr Hwy., Adrian, died Monday evening at the Lenawee
Medical Care Facility. He was born January 22, 1890. He married Edith B. Schrock , Oct. 26,
1926. She preceded him in death June 8 of this year. He is survived by six sons, Ross and
William of Adrian, John Jr. of Birdsall, Orville of Toledo, Henry of Alabama and Lee of
Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Arlene) Beach and Mrs. Rose Lawson of Adrian; 25
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by five
children in infancy. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Everiss Funeral Home. Burial will
be in the Cambridge Cemetery.

E. Hendershott

Edith P. Hendershott, 77, of 3250 Parr Hwy., Adrian died at Bixby Hospital 6 p.m. Thursday.
She was born July 19, 1900 to Joseph and Carrie Schrock in Lenawee County. On Oct. 26,
1926, she married John Hendershott. He survives. Also surviving are six sons, Ross and
William of Adrian, John Jr. of Birdsall, Orville of Toledo, Ohio, Henry of Alabama, and Lee of
Minnesota. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Arlene) Beach and Mrs.
Rose Lawson, both of Adrian; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding her in
death were five children in infancy. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Everiss Funeral
Home, Adrian, with the Rev. Lawrence Cox officiating. Friends may call after noon Saturday at
the funeral home.
