I'd like to know whether my great-great-grandmother, Nancy A. Smith (April 22, 1810 - March 31, 1872) and Nancy Higgins were one and the same. Nancy Smith married John F. Highfill on September 21, 1830 in Habersham Co GA. They lived in Jackson Co GA where she died in 1872. He then moved to Parker Co TX where he had family, and died in April, 1874. At the time of his death he was "husband of Nancy (Higgins) Highfill". Was Nancy A. Smith a young (age 20) widow at the time of her marriage to John? Was she born Nancy Higgins? I'm inclined now to think so, but I have no verification, other than the fact that Nancy Higgins had brothers named Thomas, Newton, John and Jason, and Nancy Smith had sons named Thomas Newton, David Jason Monroe, and John.
