Hi, I just joied the mail list for hill. I am seaching the archives for any messages that might pertain to my "Hills". If anyone regognizes any of the following names, please let me know as I would love to find out more about this family line.....especially the "uknown wives".
Here is what I have found on the census records.
Micahjah Hill Sr. Born abt 1765 in NC ( county unknown ) found on 1800 Census..Capt Greens Dist
1830 Census shows him in Morgan Co Al, unknown townships. with his family
1840 census shows him in Limestone Co Al
1850 Census shows Micahjah Hill Jr in Blount Co Al and that he was born abt 1813 in Ga
His Wife Rachel born abt 1815 in Ga
Their Children:
Marstive Hill, Born abt 1835. Al
Elijah Hill Born Abt 1842 Al
Mary Hill Born abt 1844 Al
Leroy Hill Born abt 1847 Al
Dorcas Hill Born Abt 1849 Al
Eunice R Hill Born abt 1851 Al ( my great great grandmother )
William M Hill Born abt 1854 Al
Elizabeth A Hill Born abt 1854 Al William's twin
Do any of these names seem familiar? It is speculated that Micahjah Jr married his wife Rachel around 1834 in Limestone Co, Al. Their daughter, Eunice R hill was married to James Knox Polk Kerr on feb 14th, 1872 in Jackson Co Al. and the 1880 census shows them in Marshal co AL Where James was from. Sometime after 1880, they moved west and settled a bit south of Ft Smith Arkansas, and later stopped in Oklahoma near Ft Towsen. They continued on to Texas, and settled in Lamar Co. where Their daughter Mary Frances Kerr( my great grandmother ), married George Allen Grace on Dec 1, 1895, Lamar Co Tx. Mary F Kerr Grace told my father when he was young that she was 1/4 cherokee. I have a picture of her mother, Eunice R Hill, and the indian shows much more in her than her daughter. I am seeking any information I can get as I would like to someday write a book of my family history, and my ancestors other children.
