Of interest to anyone who thinks they may be descended from GEORGE THOMAS HODGE and wives ELIZABETH BLUNDELL and ARABELLA TYRER, who emigrated to Stisted, Ontario, Canada around 1880. Or HENRY HODGE and SARAH EVELYN RIMMER whose sons were in Michigan & New Mexico in the 1930's.

I am a G G G granddaughter of "Gred Tom Hodge" (1794-1870), who was Henry & George Thomas' Grandfather, and I can provide a Hodge pedigree back to William of 1580, who was sole descendant of William Hoggesson listed in Poll tax returns of 1381.

I've found in the local library 2 boxes of original documents & photos relating to George's Uncle Edward Albert Hodge and his son, Edmund Whittaker Hodge. This posting is long, but should be very interesting to any Canadian Hodges (I suspect the North Meols family may be largely responsible for the Hodge population there), plus a few American ones.

Amongst other things, these boxes contain letters from the Canadian and American nieces & nephews, dated 1935, thanking Uncle Ted for £50 he sent each of them when he inherited from his great aunt. The letters discuss the depression and the financial difficulties faced by the family there (I have copied one from Wifred in Michigan).

Henry Hodge & Sarah Evelyn Rimmer had 2 sons, Wilfred Arnold and Norman in Southport, Lancashire. I don't know if the parents emigrated, but in 1935 Wilfred is living in Ferndale, Michigan with wife, Ruby and at least one child of 13. Later that year Ruby writes again from Detroit. Wilfred was a "merchandise broker". Norman was in New Mexico, having moved there for his wife's health. I assume he was previously based nearer his brother in Michigan.

There is also some family tree data, I guess compiled by Edmund Whittaker Hodge, of the Canadian branch, dated from the late 1960's, which includes people born up to that time, here is a list of all those who are likely to be around now or be remembered by others. If you recognise yourself or someone you know here, I would love to hear from you.
