I have just a few more thoughts to add to my Bermuda triangle posts.
The one William Hodges who married a Mary born between 1770 and 1780 that I
have found is William Hodges who married Mary Lax in Halifax County in 1805.
The numbers fit, but could he have moved to Giles County, Virginia? I would
appreciate hearing from someHalifax County researchers.
James Hodges appears in the Knox County, Kentucky tax lists of 1800, 1801,
1802 (with Stephen Hodges), 1803, 1804, 1805, 1806 (with Mashac Hodges and
Luther Hodges), 1808, and 1809, and in the 1810 Census (over 45 or born
before 1765). In 1811, he is in the tax list for Clay County (formed in
part from Knox). In the 1820 Census of Clay County, he is shown as 40-50,
and in the 1830 Census, now in Laurel County, 50-60 (or born 1770-1780). If
this is the same man as in the 1779 deed in Hanry County, Va., he was born
by about 1758.
I would appreciate any feedback thathelps connect upthe branches and twigs
to the rest of theHodges family tree.
Bob Hodges.
