Hi, Gang.

Betty Hompoth finally got back to me on questions I had about the lookup
she did on Hoisingtons in Lapeer Co. MI. Corrections to the cemetery
listings are as follows:

Adam was born in 1845

Fred W.( not I) born in 1874

Margaret died in 1943

Willie died in 1904

In the Lapeer Co. Pioneer Book there was a large write-up on the
Hoisingtons, but a little confusing. I have reformatted it to, I hope,
make it a little clearer. I have occasionally put discrepancies I found in
brackets. If anyone has any additions or corrections, let me know. Also,
if anyone wants a copy of the original e-mails...

HOISINGTON. There were 2 Hoisingtons who came to Attica early, possibly
brothers, and possibly sons of Washington Hoisington, but this is unknown
at this time.

[Note: Harry Hoisington had two additional sons listed, Earl and William,
and three daughters (Caroline, Mary, Sarah) about whom I have NO
information. If anyone else does, please contact me.]

Little is known about HENRY HOISINGTON (born NY Oct 15, 1821, died Aug 15,
1909) who married Minerva Morton. They had 2 known sons:

[Note: HH had several more children listed: Marinda, Alzaretta, Eva,
Lydia, William, Cyrus, Bert M., Lillian. I have some info, if you're
interested.]

1) Charles (born Nov 3, 1860, died Aug 28, 1931 in Lapeer), a retired
merchant; [married Minerva Taylor] and
2) Ezra J [Ezra John Byron] (born 1868) married Sept 20, 1890 at Imlay
City Ada Messenger (born ca 1873) daughter of Jerome and Mary Messenger.

The present Attica family descends from GEORGE W HOISINGTON (born NY Jan
30, 1820, died July 14, 1905) who married [2nd wife according to HH]
Rebecca Manwaring [or Mainwaring]. They had 6 children:
1) Francis or Frank;
2) Andrew;
3) Adam;
4) Hannah who married a Laidler;
5) William (born May 21, 1856, died March 27, 1939 at Imlay City) maybe
unmarried; and
6) Susan (born 1860) married July 6, 1879 Henry M Green, probably a son of
William Green.

Francis, or Frank, son of George and Rebecca, was born NY Sept 20, 1841,
died Dec 31,1911, and married Ida Stone (born NY ca 1857). The couple had 6
children:
l) Harley H;
2) Charles;
3) William F;
4) Emma (born July 22, 1882); [HH also lists a Bertha, but this may be the
same person]
5) May (born 1885) married April 28, 1908 James A McDonald, son of Nell and
Sarah A E {Allen) McDonald of Oregon twp; and
6) Roy Hoisington.

Harley H, the first child (born ca 1875) married May 31, 1899 Hattie
Ferguson, daughter of Peter Ferguson of Attica. They had 2 known children:

l) Kenneth Victor (born Imlay City Dec 24, 1913) and
2) Frank E (born Lapeer Aug 10, 1917).

Charles, 2d child (born ca 1876) married Nov 7, 1900 Alice M Russell (born
July 14, 1879, died Aug 15, 1949) daughter of Henry and Theda (Thrasher)
Russell. Charles and Alice had 9 children:

I) Gladys;
2) Bernice;
3) Earl;
4) Alta Mae;
5) Francis Carl;
6) Eugene H;
7) Glen L;
8) Clarence; and
9) Otis Raymond.

William F (born Oct 1879), married Margaret and had 2 children:

l) Harry E married Millie Burgess, daughter of Claude Burgess; and
2) William F.

Roy (born 1888) was the last child of Frank and Ida (Stone) Hoisington. He
married Sept 29, 1908 Viva May Martin, daughter of John D and Alice
(Haggadone) Martin. They had 2 children:

1) Alice and
2) Ida Louise.

Andrew, likely the 2d child of George W and Rebecca Hoisington, was born ca
1846, died April 22, 1916 at Imlay City, and married Rachael Chase (born of
English descent Aug 18, 1855, died Imlay City April 3, 1941). They had 3
children:

l) Myrtle (born July 27, 1872, died Almont Nov 3, 1950 but buried in Iralay
City) who married William Lindsey;
2) Frederick; and
3) George P (born Attica Aug 16, 1884, died Chicago 1936) married Dec 28,
1910 at Imlay Blanche Ruth North, daughter of Lorenzo and Louise (Struble)
North.

Frederick (born Feb 7, 1874, died Dec 6, 1955) and son of Andrew, married
Marion Blanche Nimmo. Fred had a barber shop at Imlay City, sold cars on
the side, and had a garage in 1914. They had 13 children:

1) Lenora married Ralph Kruse;
2) Pearl married Clare Thurston;
3) Arnault, about whom more later;
4) Dorothy C; [this is probably the Kathleen that HH lists]
5) Myrtle Aileen married Paul Becker;
6) Miles Elwin married Eleanor;
7) Woodrow F married Isabelle Ballard;
8) Ford B;
9) Patricia Madeline married A J Foster;
10) Russel L;
11) Rachel Ernestine married John MacFarlane;
12) Gloria Elaine married Emery Gilbert; and
13) Marjan married Vernon Gibbard.

Arnault, son of Frederick and Marion, lives on a Centennial farm. He
married Phyllis Boshaw, daughter of Henry and Minnie (Ball) Boshaw, and the
couple have 2 daughters:

1) Elizabeth married Raymond Toole and had 3 children; and
2) Gloria married Richard Howe and had 2 children.

[Note: I did not have this family at all. I had a marriage to Eleanor
Forbes, with no children]

Adam, 3d child of George W and Rebecca Hoisington, was born at Tyrone,
Livingston Co, Mich Jan 2, 1847, and died at lmlay City Oct 19, 1922. He
married 1869 Margaret Harbor, daughter of Phillip Harbor of Metamora.
Margaret was born --ca 1848, died Aug 14, 1927. They had likely 3 children,
a son unknown. Their other children were Edwin J, and Celia.

Edwin J (born May 21, 1875, died Jan 21, 1903) who married Sept 8, 1897
Clara June Peck (born Dec 10, 1899) daughter of John W and Mintha (Carter)
Peck. They had a son, Wesley A.

Celia, daughter of Adam and Margaret Hoisington, was born Feb 21, 1871,
died Lapeer May 15, 1941, and married first March 4, 1891 Sidney M Walton
(died May 17, 1914) son of Franklin and Elizabeth (Youngs) Walton. The
Walton farm in Attica was in that family over 100 years. The Walton family
included 5 children:

1) Edith married Reid Sisson of Goodland;
2) Joyce married first Charles Layman and lived at Birmingham, where she
married 2d Mr Mack;
3) Margaret married H W Laidlow and lived at Ubly and Bad Axe;
4) Clarence married Emma Schaaf and had 5 daughters and 5 sons; and
5) Clayton Walton of Flint.

Celia married 2d March 28, 1929 Charles Taylor of Flint. She eventually
came to Lapeer in 1929.
