Cora Krebs

Cora Horsington Krebs was the original owner of the Krebs restaurant that
today attracts many people from across the country. According to Pioneers
and Prominent citizens of Skaneateles, Cora Krebs was born in the 1870's.
Her maiden name was Horsington. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. John
Horsington, into a family of ten. Cora Krebs lived on West Genesee Street
where the Krebs restaurant is now located. She graduated from Skaneateles
Academy in 1888. For a while, she was a teacher. Cora stopped teaching to
marry Frederick Krebs in 1896. They opened a restaurant in 1899. Cora Krebs
was famous for her angel food cake and her beautiful gardens. Cora and
Frederick Krebs did not have any children, but they were very fond of one of
their young workers, Fred Perkins. Fred Perkins and his wife Eloise became
managers of the Kreb's after Cora and then Fred Kreb's deaths in 1936.

Apparently the Hoisington/Horsington/Hossingtons were in Somerset England
in the late 1500s, per the Whatley family website:

"They
obtained estates in 1547 at Frome and near Wells, not far from the Mendip
Hills in Somersetshire. In the prob. registry at Wells are filed the wills

The will of John names: Mary, my wife, and leaves to her the use of 6 rooms
of the East wing of my manor-house, etc. To John Wheatleigh, my son and
