Hi, Bonnie and All.

The early New England settlements had town charters which required them to
take care of their citizens. However, they also expected that, like true
Protestants, the earthly status of a person reflected his/her relationship
to God and that all town citizens should carry their weight. Occasionally,
the towns would find that a family was in danger of becoming a burden to
the other town members or that their behavior was "unacceptable". When
this happened, the town would "warn out" the family, encouraging them to
either get it together or move. These warnings out represent a real gold
mine. They provide information on the status of a family, reasons for
moving, often name members of the family, and give the location of families
between the dates of their birth, marriage and death.
>Also, is the Ebenezer he's referring to, my Ebenezer?
I believe Dexter was referring to Ebenezer Dike, Sr., who was married to
Diana "Anna" Hoisington.

I'm really looking forward to the Boardman information. Dexter's e-mails
also noted that Cook was an early family in this area. We might even find
out something about Mehitable's (Cole or Cook)Boardman's ancestry.
