Tina, My guess would be the senior male line died out. Did the descent
always go downline to the younger and younger males? If so, it would
probably mean the younger male lines, or as you thought, the female
lines, but I can't imagine a woman back then having the power to name
the male child after the female line. Wonder how one finds out? Karen D
