Hi, Maida.
You actually saw it. My "15 minutes of fame" turned out to be about 15
seconds, but it was interesting talking to the reporter, Margi Mannix. She
actually interviewed me about 18 months ago and I was planning on going
last year. However, life got in the way. I got laid off and had to stay
in town to look for a job.
The article she wrote for US News & World Report got "trimmed" and me with
it. However, she called to let me know that she thought I had an
interesting story and that she was going to try and market it elsewhere.
When she sold the story to Good Housekeeping, she called again and updated
the information. At that point the story was about 2-3 paragraphs long. I
guess Good Housekeeping "trimmed" the story again, but at least the
Hoisington and USGenWeb parts made it. Such is the fleeting nature of
fame!
I would still like to go to the Reunion. It's a local one (descendants of
one of the Daniel & Mary combos were were just discussing) in Stockton NY.
It is by invitation, but Mark Frieden (a listmember who's a descendant)
gave me a couple of numbers and I called. They were surprised that I would
be interested in attending, but they were most gracious and invited me.
The Reunion is held annually, I think on the first Saturday of August.
Since I've moved, I'm not sure where the invitation from last year is.
Mark, are you out there?
Harriette
