Hello Mitzi;
You gave a lot of good reasons for multiple spellings of a name, surname or
given. Let me add another: The writer may be showing off his education by
spelling a name as many ways as he can think of. I have seen many different
spellings in the same document. The more ways to spell is supposed to show how
educated the person doing the entry thinks he is.
