Charles Frederick Holder's compilation of information, sent him at his
request, by as many Holders he could find, at the time, makes very
interesting reading. "Holders of Holderness" is the result of this survey.
I recently read that at the turn of the century it was 'quite the thing' to
compile such a family history: people's stories as they knew them. But I'm
sure other parts of his book are well researched and I hope to soon find
out. The reason this topic is timely for me is that within the week I
expect to receive the family copy from a first cousin in Nova Scotia (our
family was one surveyed).
This one better have the family crest on the face page! - the Los Angeles
Public Library has a copy minus that page. Haven't checked the library in
Pasadena. C. F. Holder lived in Pasadena, Ca for a time and was
instrumental in the formation of the Rose Parade on New Years Day as I
recall. I will be most happy to share whatever info the book has to offer.
Heck, we'll photo that crest, get it on the family site and transcribe the
book; can't take that long! Too expensive to try and get it any other way.
........... awaiting UPS, w.
