A monument in the Hood Cemetery in Blount Co. AL, evidently erected by a descendant or maybe the local DAR chapter, says "Thomas Hood b. 1758 d. 1833 Sgt. Maj. Continental Line" [the DAR Register of Rev War Vets in AL (Memorial Commission 22 Oct 1979) says VA Continental Line].

However, I believe that he's been conflated with two other Thomas Hoods -
1. Thomas Hood (Pension S38039), enlisted in Gloucester Co. VA, lived in Person Co. NC, and died in 1828 in Richmond, VA. He *was* a Sgt. Major in the VA Cont. Line.
2. Thomas Hood (Pension S4379), enlisted in Bedford Co. VA and Burke Co. NC, lived in White Co. TN, and died in 1839 in Gallatin Co. IL. He *was* born in 1758.

So, another Hood tombstone/monument that should be bulldozed under for the sake of good genealogy! Aaaaarrrgh!

I'm not sure exactly why someone thought there was a Thomas Hood who died in Blount Co. AL, and I'd love to figure that out. Any ideas?
