I would like to find parents of this Robert Hooper. I am not so sure he was born in Calstock, Cornwall as he is later in Devonport but no proof of where he was born. Robert Hooper married Catherine Ley on 20 Aug 1798. Catherine Ley born 11 May 1777 daughter of Richard Ley and Mary Jane. Richard Ley and Mary Jane married 7 December 1774.

Richard Ley Hooper married Ann Wills daughter of William Wills and Anne on 9 December 1823. Ann Wills born in St. Neot, Cornwall on 4 August 1793.

Census 1851 St Cleer: HOOPER, Richard Ley age 50 born Devenport Husband, Ann age 58 born St Neot Wife, Robert age 19 born Crowsnest St Cleer Son, Elizabeth Ann age 16 Daughter, Thomas John age 10 Grandson

Thomas John Hooper born about 1841 was the grandson of Richard and Ann as listed in 1851 census. In 1861 census Thomas John Hooper age 20 is living in St. Cleer, Cornwall with Ann Hooper age 70. There is no one else in household. Thomas is again listed as grandson. I can not find any record of his birth as of yet but have theorized that he is most likely an illegitimate son of Mary Hooper daughter of Richard and Ann Hooper.

I am descended from Sidney Joseph Hooper son of Thomas John Hooper and Maria Richards.
