This sounds a lot like the William Hooper, b. ca 1836 Pickens County,
AL; married 24 Aug 1858 Yalobusha Co. MS to Martha Ann Neely, had an
infant daughter Sallie in 1860 when listed on the 1860 Yalobusha census.
On that census, Martha was 28 while William was 24. [Ten years earlier,
he was only 13 when the enumerator asked]
In 1860, this William was only 3 doors from his widowed mother Icyphena
(Burns) Hooper.
The father of this William had been listed in the 1850 Yalobusha census
as O.B.Hooper, age 43, b. AL; he was Obadiah B Hooper, son of Obadiah,
Jr., of Pickens.
I just checked 1870 Yalobusha -
Hooper, William 34 AL;
Martha A 39 AL;
Sallie A, 11 MS;
Wm L. 9 MS;
Obedia P 6 MS
