Lets see if this convinces you John is not the father of Squier.
John 4, son of John 3 of John 2 of Thomas of Milton, m. 1756 Sarah Hix.
Before 16 May 1778 she m2) William Ross of Glocester, RI as shown by the
settlement of John's estate.
John 4 died 27 April 1776 Situate, RI.
John 3 died 10 Jan. 1896 aged 99-9-20 Glocester, RI VR
John 3 wrote his will 7 April 1784, probated 20 Feb. 1796 (Glocester Probate
2:324)
To quote: "Item I Give unto my beloved Grand Daughter Mary Horton, the
Daughter and only Child of my son John Horton, late of Scituate Deceased all
my Estate whatever Real or Personal that shall Remain after the Paying my
D...[prob. other daughters] Legacies as aforesaid...
Copied from a Xerox of the above. It clearly notes son John had only Mary
"only child".
This puts out several other children who are listed in some "Mug Books"
