Subject: [HTC-BOSTON] Baske -- Matthews

Hi All,
Finally found the original surname of the MATTHEWS family I have been
researching. We knew that the family took their surname from the given name
of the ancestor that immigrated. In the 1860 census I found the family
listed under Head of Household, Matthew BASKE. They were living at 9 or 11
Avon Place, Roxbury, MA.

The BASKE name doesn't turn up in any subsequent censuses and can't find them
listed under the MATTHEWS name either. (The son who I am researching moved to
Chicago in the mid 1860s but many siblings remained in MA.)

Here is what I know......sorry so long (first generation only listed)!
