I am trying to trace the ancestors of James VAVASOUR (ca.1762-1830) who
resided in Newfoundland. (He is my maternal great great grandfather).
Family tradition has it that the Vavasours were Huguenots. Oral
tradition differs on whether they fled first to England (if so, likely
Dorset) or to Ireland, and hence to Newfoundland. I would be most
grateful for any information that anyone can provide.
