| Roy,
| You told the gentleman there were Forces in the record. I
| am looking for info on La Force (Caumont).
| Does these records contain anything other than name and place of origin?
| I know there was a Francois Rene Caumont from Guyenne, France admitted in
1719 and died in 1721.
| I was hoping there would be some other info concerning him or any other La
Force in that time frame.

Before I discuss the hospital records I was this morning looking at the
Wheeler Street, Spitalfields records and came across the following which may
be of interest. It was under Termoignages.

16 Oct 1709. CAUMONT, Jean, et Ester sa fe. Sig. Jean CEAUMONT

Other CAUMONTs mention in the BDM register are Anthoine, Isaac, Jean Jacques
and Jeanne. Can supply info if of interest.

As for the hospital records there is little in the records about the CAUMONT
you mention. It does give alternative spellings of CAUMON, COMMON and COMON
and Francois Rene's name is actually spelt COMON and his death is given as
26 April 1721. There is an Antoine COMONT admitted 4 Dec 1762 - would this
be one of yours?

There is one FORCE and he is Auguste and was admitted on 5 June 1886.
Whilst outside your timescale the entry does contain some interesting
information and I quote "Your petitioner's grandfather Francois FORCE left
France early in the last century and settled in London in partnership with
M. De l'abre in the silk trade. He afterwards went to Canada where your
petitioner's father was born and lived until the year 1816 when he returned
to France with his wife and only child (the petitioner)". It then gives
details of the petitioners life and ends stating that his previous
occupation was "Chasseur d'Afrique". I wonder what stories he could have
told? Later there is quoted an extract from a letter written by Auguste and
he says " I have found out since the other day that my great grandfather
left France immediately after the revocation 1685....I have always followed
the protestant religion"

Hope this helps.

Roy.
