Subject: [HWE] Family name VARLEY
Date: Fri, 2 Nov 2001 17:33:54 -0000
Hi List
My mother's maiden name VARLEY was always said to be of Huguenot origin, but
the name does not appear in your list, how can I find out if it is in fact
of Huguenot origin?? and if so, where they came from.
I have traced the VARLEY's in West Yorkshire, in the Huddersfield area, back
to the early 1700s. There seemed to be two families, John Varley, a clock
maker and William Varley a miller. I am from John Varley's line, although if
I where able to go back further, maybe they would combine.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
