I'd like to add some further info which may also help Michael

because I am not researching in Germany and I don't speak or read
German! Please, Ina, or other German-speakers, point it out if I'm wrong
with any of the following.....

Michael, I tried a Place Search for Altona on the LDS site
(www.familysearch.org) and there don't appear to be any useful church
records for you (but please check just to make sure I'm correct in saying
this). However, under the sub-heading Church History -- Sources, there is
a book by Henri TOLLIN "Urkunden zur Geschichte hugenottischer
Gemeinden in Deutschland" (Source documents for a history of Huguenot
congregations in Germany). While this is not specifically about Altona, it
must have some relevence to be listed under this location.
This book, written in 1893 (in French and German) is indexed.
It's available in the main FHL in Salt Lake (if you're anywhere near there),
but it has also been filmed (# 1045349) and is on fiche # 6000819 along
with "Geschichtsblätter des Deutschen Hugenotten-Vereins" (Historical
series, written in German, on Huguenot leaders, churches and settlements
throughout the world, published by the German Huguenot Society.)

If you do a Subject Search for Huguenots, this should also give you
a listing of all LDS sources for Huguenots in Germany. Something in
that listing might help.

For anyone who is unable to access original records in Europe, the
Family History Centres of the LDS Church offer an alternative. Most
films/fiche held in Salt Lake can be ordered and then viewed at local
FHCs in many countries. To find out if there is an FHC near you, go to
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp.
