PINTARD: 1600s ?Cevennes? & c1665 La Rochelle, FRA >St. Christophe (St.
Kitts), West Indies > 1687 NY, USA > 1732 NJ, USA ()

Antoine (Anthony) PINTARD is believed to have been from the Cevennes region
of Southern France. There is a PINTARD house in Gard. He left France
through the port of La Rochelle, France and went first to St Christophe
Island in the Antilles, West Indies. He is believed to have owned a sugar
plantation there. A group of 54 Huguenots, due to persecution, moved to
Gravesend, NY in 1687. Shortly thereafter, Antoine bought land in
Shrewsbury, Monmouth, NJ from REAPE, one of the original patentees. He was
a judge in East Jersey. After a fire he returned to New York City, NY
where he was a merchant. He married Catherine STELLE) IN 1692. He
returned to Shrewsbury where he died in 1732.

I would like to establish his date of birth, birthplace and learn about his
parents. He may have had a brother, Samuel, who may have stayed the West
Indies.
