Hi Roy

Many thanks. As I have said I am very new to this so not sure where to go
with the info that I have.

I am researching the Vertues of both East Anglia and London and the earliest
Vertu I have discovered is Jaque Pierre Vertu chris 1716 Spitalfields French
Huguenot-Parents Jaque Vertu and Judith Ravenell, and am trying to make a
connection with Hannah Vertue chris. Spitalfields Christ Church 1796.

On the East Anglia side I have a Vertue that married a Byles in the 18th C.
The Byles family could have been of French descent originally being a
Huguenot family called Baille, a couple of generations earlier.

A person with who I am corresponding has a letter from a Sir Phillip de
Vertu although the date of the letter is uncertain.

What is interesting is that according to the IGI index there were Vertu,
Ravenell, Baille and Gaillard families in the town of Meurthe-Et-Moselle.

Is it possible to get a copy of the article you are referring to, from
anywhere?

Many thanks again

Bob
