Hi to all --

Replying to today's post from Jim <> re:
TILBE surname.
Jim, I notice that the TILBE name was included in a post I
sent to the list on 12 Nov 2001 for surnames TA-TO from
the Threadneedle St. Church tésmoignages (London). Have
you checked these tésmoignages records? With luck, the
listing for TILBE may include a European location.

The tésmoignages records are in one of the Quarto series
of volumes published by the Huguenot Society of London (now
called Huguenot Society of Great Britain & Northern Ireland).
They've also been filmed by LDS. You'll find info about
the Quarto series and this particular volume on our website at:
http://www.island.net/~andreav/quarto.htm.

If you're not familiar with the tésmoignages and what they are,
you'll find an explanation in a post which was sent to the list on
16 March 2000. That post is in the list archives at:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/HUGUENOTS-WALLOONS-EUROPE/2000-03 with
subject line: Livre des Tesmoignages: Threadneedle St. Church, London.

Another source which may help you are the naturalization
and denization records, also published in the Quarto series
by the Huguenot Society. These records sometimes mention
the European origins of people seeking naturalization in
England.

Hope these comments are helpful to you. Andrea
