Hello to the kind person who wrote and you know who you
are.
Your kind words and that of quite a few others are
overwhelming and much appreciated.
I am not about to unsubscribe from the HWE list, mearly
give more thought to how some of my postings may have
an effect on some of the subsribers.
I gain so much from being part of various groups via
the Internet that I have as yet been unable to digest
it all. Much is forwarded to our extended family who
are part of our family history project. That
information returns via our family newsletter in a
shortened or modified form and so we all have a better
understanding of how our various family members lived
their lives over the last 1000 years.
When a young man, I managed to squeeze in a few courses
on history which led to genealogy. My aim these days is
to continue with my part of our project and to begin to
give what ever has been collected over 40 or 50 years
to others where it may be of some use.
At times I am deliberate in provocation. Cause and
effect, one could say. If the effect is to rouse the
thoughts of others to write or debate issues on a given
topic then I feel that I am giving to the cause.
In that way we all gain a little and are able to pass
on to others the things that we have gained, many times
for free.
A famous line in history goes something like " I may
not agree with what you say, but I will fight to the
death for your right to say it".
And so, I shall write from time to time and
participate, provoke, debate. And if some do not like
it,then the freedoms that our Huguenots fought for are
being threatened by those who cannot see.
And I do not intend to be blinded.
In my post on "OK - Enough" I made mention of
democracy. So it is my democratic right to poke out my
tongue and smile at those who feel somehow threatened
by the words of a person who is proud of his Huguenot
ancestors, even if I may be confused as to their
thoughts of the time.
Thank You and Good Luck with your own family research.
Kind Regards,
Peter Leroy
