Good evening, listers,
Peter was asking about silk velvet.
Silk velvet is the most expensive velvet one can buy today. It is very
drapable and has a beautiful "hand". There is also polyester velvet but of
course, it doesn't compare in quality - it's cheaper than silk velvet,
though! Silk velvet is usually used in dressmaking; however, it could be
used for draperies, if money were no object! The velvet used in upholstery
is much heavier, and is made of cotton fibres.
Here endeth the lesson!
Cheers!
Betty (in chilly Delta, BC)
