Mike
Thanks, I was very pleased with your message.
I recently scrutinised the Leiden Index of Protestant events registered
in Holland.
There are very few entries under the name Hessel but two of them were:
Pieter Hessel(widow), English subject, remarried in Leiden on 15 Aug 1621
Jacob Hessel from Sandwits(I am told this is Sandwich) married Ann
Wichinor from England at Leiden on 7 June 1624.
This is exciting, does your source indicate the place of origin of a foreigner?
Is this the totality of the Hessell entries for England or just ones for
Dover/Sandwich?
I am keen to discover the origins of Hessells in Lincs.
I appreciate your help.
Garth
