Hi Peter the slightly more advanced in age
Two copies of the Edict of Nantes still in existence? Not sure where that
comes from but even at this blurry brained time of the morning, I don't know
whether that is wholly correct.
I know of at least two archives departementales in LBF which have copies and
there is a colour pic of it (though with images of Huguenot dead and himself
(Henri IV le Grand ou Vert-Galant as he is known here)) superimposed.
Inside the publication, which is a catalogue of the Exhibition held in Rouen
in 1998, there is lots of interesting material including the Edict which
explained how the EofN would effect that particular area.
There is also a general catalogue number in the exhibition catalogue for the
Edict of Nantes so I'm assuming they have at least one copy there and
another is at Amiens.
I know that the Hug Soc of GB has several copies of the revocation
document - wonder if they have one of the Edict also - I'll find out and
post when I get back from London next weekend.
Hark, the faint cry of croissants waiting to be liberated from the bread bin
........... little do they know the fate awaiting them .........
Later folks
Tony Fuller
