Dear HWE subscribers --

Sorry to interrupt the flow of things but I
feel I should comment on a few things as
list concierge.

Firstly, I request that the thread
about publications, where they can
be obtained, who wants them or is
interested, costs, postage, etc. be
ended as of now.
Tony's updates on new publications
are much appreciated but any/all
subsequent follow-ups/questions re:
those updates should be directed to
Tony privately, *off the list*, as I believe
he has requested.

Now, some of those replies were
inadvertant, ie. meant to be sent to
someone privately, not to the list. Which
leads me to a further point about
replying to list messages.

Let's say you read a post on HWE and
want to reply. So, naturally, you hit the
Reply key. Now lift your eyes from
your keyboard and notice what address is
in the "To" field of your e-mail program.

Yes, it will be the list address. This is the
default.

If you do not change it, your reply will go
to the list. All well and good but what if you
want to reply to the post privately, off the
list? You'll have to change the list address
to the private e-mail address of the person
you're replying to.

I would also add that this list is for
the sharing of Huguenot/Walloon
genealogy. It is not about the buying and
selling of publications or CDs.
I say this as the representative of
Rootsweb in my capacity as admin of
this list. And Rootsweb is pretty clear
about this in its policy.

Lastly, if you have any problems or
questions around being a subscriber
to this list -- eg, unsubscribing or changing
your e-mail address -- those messages
should *not* be sent to the list address.
Please send them to me privately either
at or the admin
address which is .
Instructions on subscribing, unsubscribing
and changing your e-mail address are also
on the HWE website here:
http://www.island.net/~andreav/sub.htm
and here
http://www.island.net/~andreav/unsub.htm

That's it. Now let's get back to to
genealogical, historical or research
discussions. Andrea (as list concierge)
