My family has been looking since ww2 for info on my great-uncle, Lotzi H
avas, from Bekes. He was part of the human mine-sweeping team conscripted
by the Hungarian army in or around 1943. Family had contact with him for
six or eight months, then nothing.
Am hoping some information is coming out from behind the former Iron Curtain.
Anyone heard anything? Facts, speculation, or rumor?

As I was in Budapest 25 years ago and revisited Hungary driving the
whole country this August. The change has bee dramatic. I think
you will be suprised that there is no comparison to the former Hungarian
State. The main disadvantage to most Hungarians now is that although
goods and services are plentiful , with the constant devaluation of the
forint it has become very expense for them to purchace things. But all
in all the change was suprizing. I even recieved a free cookie at the
filling stations.
With that aside there are several ways you can try to contact your
relative. You may want to contact
They contact relative or even do genealogy for a fee. There are other
orginizations too.
You also may want to post a query at http://feefhs.org which has a lot
of easter european links.
There may also be a possibility in contacting the Hungarian Consulate.
There is a lot of information out there to be looked through
Good Luck and sorry for the missed characters had line noise today.
