The entire U.S. has only four Makray families, one decended from my
grandfather PAUL MAKRAY, who settled in Chicago via McKees Rocks, Pa
(Married Molika (Amelia) Orban b. Budapest) in Cleveland, Ohio. My
grandfather's brother , the second family, settled in Pittsburgh
(JOSEPH??) where he worked, I think, in the steel mills. I am in
contact with a Makray family branch in Conneticut, and there is a fourth
family in New York. The Connecticut family and mine are trying to see
how we may be related. No contact yet with the New York branch. All
four Makray ancestors were born in the 1890's and immigrated between
1905-1915 or so.
The Conneticut Makrays have traced to Satu Mare, which is now in
Romania. All I have to go on is that my own grandfather, supposedly
left a brother behind to run the family farm, which may have been on
what was then the Czech border. The family was Catholic and my
grandmother was Lutheran. Any info, please let me know.
