Dear Joe,
I disagree with you. In my opinion it should stay as it is.
If people use the subject entry sensible you can guess already whether
you want to read the original request or not. If all answers would go to the
person requesting, you deny other people :
1. learn something new
2. oh, he has a reply, I cannot add and therefor I won't send a message
and waste his time nor mine.
3. And so what if the reply is directed at 'Dear Prudence' other people
can still learn from it. And how should it be addressed? We are a group
of people, you could say "dear chair person, ladies and gentlemen"?
You decide what you read, delete/bin what you don't want but don't
throw away the 'baby' with the bathwater.
Best wishes
