Hello all,
I recently received this information concerning my mother's mother's family
from Vas megye, all Roman Catholic:
TÁNCZOS Mattheus (Maté), postman, my grandmother Mária Margit's father from
Szécheny (Vasszécseny) born 14th February, 1859 in Szécseny married LÁTZO
Eleonora from Némét Ujvár (Güssing) who was born 13th June, 1864. Postman
is a translation of levelhordo - was a postman then and there like a
postman now, that is a civil servant ? How did one become a postman ? His
parents:
Joannes TÁNCZOS, servus, married the widow Elisabeth CZUPI who was llikely
born on 21st November, 1817 in Szécseny - incidentally her first husband
was József NÉMETH of Rum aged 22 - married on 16th January 1845. Elisabeth
CZUPI's parents Joannes CZUPI from Szölös married the widow Julianna BAKOTS
on 1st May 1810 in Szécseny (Vasszéceny) - he died in 1859 aged 75, so was
born around 1784; where might Szölös be ? A correspondent has suggested
that it was village which is now a suburb of Szombathely, any ideas ? I
would also be iunterested in the family to which he provided service, again
any suggestions ?
LÁTZO Eleonora's parents: LÁTZO Michael from Csörötnek born September 12,
1834 in Csörötnek, married in Némét Ujvár Anna nee RAJKOVITS from
Jánosháza, 31st January, 1864. LÁTZO Michael's parents Franciscus LÁTZO,
pleb. [commoner], and Eva SÁBLER.
Any comments very welcome,
yours
