Subject: [HUNGARY-L] Grandfather's Immigration
Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2000 18:35:07 EDT
I have come to a stalemate in finding when my grandfather immigrated from
Hungary to New York. Following are the facts as I have them:
1. My grandfathers name was Stephen (Istvan) Molnar from Tornyosnemeti,
Hungary and was born Aug 12, 1885.
2. He married my grandmother August 1, 1909 in Tornyosnemeti, Hungary.
3. My aunt was born April 1, 1910 in Tornyosnemeti, Hungary.
4. My aunt and Grandmother immigrated from Hungary to New York May, 1911,
"to meet up with husband living in Irvington, NJ."
I know the 1910 census was done Apr 15, 1910, and column 15 shows the year of
immigration. Where can I get an index of this census to see if his name is
on it?
Is there a listing of ships arriving to Ellis Island with Hungarian
passengers? My father's family always thought everyone came over together?!?
I had no trouble finding when my grandmother came here since I had the month
and the ships name.
Thanks to all in advance.
