Hello Jill; I see Bardos and Makatura are both in Abuajuvar- some Makatura
in Zsujta; Silvasi appears in Devecser. Toth is all over, mine is in Zsutja.
All the above are in Abauj-Torna.
My break came when my g-g-grandmother remarried in 1895 in a Lutheran Church
in Newark NJ. I wrote to the Archives, and the register had the POB.
If any of your ancestors married after they arrived , this might be a good
source (if they married in the Lutheran Church)
If I remember correctly, your ancestors were born in the late 1800's. Many
(Reformed)registers go into the 1890's that I have seen.
Did you try a search on the LDS site? http://www.familysearch.org/
Altho incomplete, it may give you an idea of where your names are located.
Radix has a list of shopkeepers from 1891 here:
http://www.bogardi.com/gen/index.shtml
This appears to be a cut above the average Genforum:
http://www.genforum.com/hungary/
Hope something here will help. Take care, Kevin
