Hello Becky!

Within several generations of my (SARKADI) family born in Hungary, the
first born son was named after his FATHER and the first born daughter
was named after her MOTHER. In one case, the first son died within a
year (or so) and a subsequent son was named after his FATHER. And, as
if to be fair, when the namesake daughter also died young, a subsequent
daughter was named after her MOTHER. Not a large sample, but at least
one (family) exaample.

Also, there are "volunteer" folks on the internet with access to U.S.
Census data (by state) ... and these folks might be able to help you
locate some of your family in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 data. Let me
know if you need help making contact.
