I too took the chance and wrote to people with the same surname as my
relatives. I have found that these people, even the one's that I don't believe are
related to me have been very helpful. I suggest that anyone who has been
thinking about just writing to someone with the same surname but aren't quite sure if
you want to do this...........go for it! I have received some wonderful
pictures and some documents. Along the way I have made some penpals too! I
correspond with these people either via email or snail mail. I have also been writing
to an elderly man who has no family and doesn't think that he is worth
anything <sobbing> I don't have the heart to not write him anymore. We send Christmas
cards to each other and I send him little notes about my family and how
things are going with me. He calls me Auntie Connie!................Good luck.
