Joe,
As I see it there is a snag in the suggestion. The LDS instructions relate
to using both volume I and II of the 1877 Gazetteer together. However, it
appears that the copy that Janos has on-line through the University of Pecs
only has volume II. Therefore, the instructions would be confusing without
the earlier volume that includes the complete index of all the settlements
in the Kingdom of Hungary. Hopefully, Janos can have the earlier volume
added to the file so the complete set is available and then the instructions
will be helpful.
If you have problems getting approval from SLC, let me try with my
connections through the Church.

Hello Gordon,
This is very kind of you, thank you.
If I understand you correctly, you would forward it to our project so that
we could put it on our website, right?
Having such a tool would be useful for many, still, I've two things that
concern me here:
- the instruction probably has some copyright or other restriction on
publishing, and
- I'm not sure if our library chief would think this to be a good idea.
If the copyright thing could be worked out, the best solution might be to
put the instruction on some genie website (let it be Rootsweb's Hungary
page or any other) and our library would be happy to link to it.
Or, what about getting some LDS folks involved and putting the instruction
right on an LDS site?
All the best,
Janos Bogardi

Janos,
If it would be helpful to your project, I can forward the LDS English
instruction for using the 1877 gazetteer. It would provide a guide to
those
who are fluent only in English.

Hi János and Gordon,
I might be of help here; I'm in touch with somebody from S.L.C. library
and I can inquire easily about that copyright issue. Give me a few days and
I'll let you know their answer.
