What a good opportunity for you to spread the word! I'm sure you'll get
some takers, or at least some who will inquire about it.
While reading this particular email, it dawned on me that you might have
come up with my JAMES HUNT. He and his family -- think it was with the
children of his first family (and my great) and his second wife and their
family stopped off in Winston County, MS in the 1850s while they were
enroute to Yell County, Arkansas and bought land.
Then searching my files I find that some legal stuff happened in 1875. And
to be a little more explicit, I'll quote from some materials a cousin sent me:
Tuesday February 16th 1875
Estate of James Hunt, Decd
<snip>
James Hunt in his life time nominated, constituted
and appointed one G. W. Woodard of the
County of Winston in the State of Mississippi, his true and lawful
attorney to sell the following land lying in said County and State, to wit;
SE 1/4 of Sec. 33, and W1/2 of S.W.1/4 of Sec. 34, T.16
R.11 about 200 acres.
<snip>
It is ordered, adjudged and decreed by the Court here,
that Said Eli W. Gladden as administrator as a fore
said, make and deliver to the said G. W. Woodard, a
Deed in fee simple for said lands to be delivered to
the said Jack Petigrew Miller together with a certified
transcript of this Order.
You can see that I don't have a ton of information, but it would be
fascinating to know if you've seen anything on this, my horribly difficult,
James HUNT and his family. I'd be particularly interested to know if they
are seen any where in association with any other surnamed, or other Hunt,
family.
I need clues <G> (but don't we all!)
Hopefully you'll get your help with your project through our conversations
and I'll end up with some wonderful clues about my James Hunt, his first
wife (who is unknown) and his 2nd, Jane Adams, whom he married 21 JUL
1837 in Elbert County, Georgia. (yes she's of that group of Adams so
associated with the Hunts and Teasleys).
Regards,
Kay
PS Hopefully some of you will stop by Linda's page -- I think you'll end
up very glad you did.
