Robert HUSTED was not the first HUSTED to come to America.
In 1987,I discovered in the University of Arizona Library,
a copy of the Colonial Records of Massachusetts, which says that
on August 17,1629,Secretary BURGIS of the New England Company
wrote to John ENDICOTT,Governor of the Plantation of Massachu-
setts Bay,that Richard EWSTEAD,a wheelwright, would be working for the
company, with the benefits of his labour going two-thirds to the
company and one-third going to the governor.
Perhaps Richard EWSTEAD was the Richard HUSTED,who was bap-
tized on October 24,1591,at Magdaline Chapel,Bermondsey,London,
England.Richard was a son of Peter HUSTED,who also had more sons baptized at
the same place:Jeremy HUSTED(March 23,1595),John
HUSTED(June 24,1601),and Francis HUSTED(April 17,1629)
