I have been trying to track down Melvina Huddleston's parents, she was born, Feb 16, 1841 I believe, in Missouri, it says on her death certificate. she died May 24 1929 in Horton, Kansas, which is close to two different Indian reservations. she always said she was Indian, and she looked it also.
She married Ed Fisher and they moved to Kansas and stayed close to the Indian schools and reservations.
her first child was born 1858. so her birth year has to be wrong.
maybe?
I do have a photo of her, and her first born daughter. it would be around 1865 photo.
on her death certificate, it says father John Huddleston, mother unknown, so I am guessing that she died early on, and no one knew her name.
Mother who was born in 1908, still alive today, would tell of Indians riding up on horse back to talk to her grandmother Melvina.
I have been trying to find this out for years and years now.
