Thanks for your wealth of information.
My maternal ancestors were among the "Foreign Protestants" who
came to Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada in 1750 with their families
to replace some of the Acadians who had been deported.
My family came on the "Ship Ann" from Rotterdam in 1750 and
landed
in Halifax. the name was Johannes George Merlin and he is listed
with his wife and family as coming from Alsweiler. Could anyone
tell me the country of origing that area would be during these
years?
Most of the other passengers also come form the Rhine Area too.
Some
say Montibliard, some say Netherlands. Any information on
history
of Europe at that time would be very much appreciated.
