I agree with Therese. My family is not the least bit interested in helping,
but is always curious what I have found. There has never been a family
reunion in my lifetime for my last name PEREGOY. Like you, it won't happen
unless do it. And I live farthest away from where most of them are
clustered.
If I can shed my own sorrow here, I am dismayed at the amount of
misinformation on the internet. We have amassed a bunch of name collectors
who do not do genealogy work. They put it out there and people take it to
be true. Nonetheless, I am more determined to create something worthy of
passing on to my children.
Therese, would you please direct me what directories I should be looking in
to find a genealogy contact in France. My people came from Alsace-Lorraine
or Perregeax. So that is northern or central France.
Tony

It is a very worthwhile cause to want to form a Family Association, wether
it be for the De Saussure or the Mallet and I wish you the best. I hope
that you will both persevere in the efforts, now or in 15 years. I wish I
was a de Saussure or a Mallet then I would join with you.
I feel like you, pretty much alone in my pursuit of ancestors. So be it.
But let's not get discouraged. It is not really because of a lack of
interest that my family does not join in the fun. It is because they do not
know what to do. So, one year, I made a small family reunion in Europe and
everyone that was invited, came. I gave assignments and they all came
through and gave me great support. They had a good time. And now, we can
ALL say in unison "remember the 1st of may 199. when we met..." and they
ask: "When are we going to do it again?" But no one is going to initiate
it. I will have to be the one and give assignments.
Now, Jim, for your Mallet association? Where are the Mallet from in France?
Have you contacted the genealogical Association of the area they are from?
Have you found people in France researching the Mallet? Have you searched
the directories of such an Association?
Tell me the region where they are from and I'll try and find you someone in
France who is working on that surname. Yes, I'll go the extra mile to
encourage you to continue your fishing for ancestors and relatives.
