Subject: [Huguenot] WHO'S WHO IN 16TH C FRANCE

For the benefit of those who missed this fascinating website it is :
www.lepg.org/people.htm
People, customs, ppolitics....
enfin a microcosm of what and how people thought in those days, how they
lived and protestantism. for the avid historian and for the person who wants
to delve into how people thought and worked in those days. i find this sort
of information very stimulating because if one concentrates on a given
subject it helps to focus on the right questions to ask and the correct
places to ask about- it does not give answers per se but it makes you think
how and why people thought a certain way. It is also very thoughtfully
compiled and gives us all a benefit of others' research.
There is also another source book for the Wars of religion which i have been
ploughing through since my extended holiday...BUT its in French! For those
who read the language, the book is called:
Histoire et Dictionnaire des Guerres de Religion
compiled by Arlette Jouanna, Jacqueline Boucher, dominic Biloghi, gui le
Thiec.
Publishers Robert Laffont S.A 1998
ISBN;2-221-07425-4
It gives a very concise history of the reasons, politics and times of the
Wars of religion in France and the known world, a dictionary of the principal
players and the terms used, the 'ultimate definition ' of the term Huguenot,
chronoligy , sources and bibliography, and finally an index of names.
A great read, concise, and factual with tons of flavour for the period!
