Something I've learned through my study of genealogy and my
married name of JILOTE is that it means "green corn" or "new
corn". And I trace the name to Central American Indains and
find that there is a "Dance of the Green Corn" preformed.
So, I was a bit astonished to see your Thanksgiving story
and the inclusion of the "Green Corn Dance". It made me
smile and made me feel a special (indirect) connection. I
shared your story and my information with my 13 year old son
hoping to give him a stronger sense of his family roots
since our 'white' Americanized cultured living has
distanced him from his ethinic family of origin and history.

I'd like to know if the dance is still preformed in the
states. My son would like to learn it.

Any French-Indians out there <<G>>?
