For newbies, the Mailing List Archives can have a wealth of information.
You can check for anything which appeared on the people you are researching
since the list began. Also, if you saw a listing and need it reposted, it
is much faster than asking for someone to repost and hope that they see the
request and do repost. More than once, I have found a detailed discussion
of a topic I needed from 2 or 3 years ago. If I had simply sent a query,
those information providers might no longer be subscribed or willing to
repost the same information. To search the Archives, go to the Rootsweb
homepage <www.rootsweb.com> Scroll down the page to Mailing List
Interactive Search. Click on it, enter the name of the list you want to
search and go from there. It is also possible to do a Threaded List search
which searches many lists simultaneously for your keywords but I have found
the results to be more relevant searching specific lists.
